vermeindliches Firmware Upgrade

Noname MP3 Player sind ja schon was spannendes. Im Manual steht:
Choose the new firmware program (you can find in the install CD or download from the website)Ja klar, Firmware upgraden hört sich toll an, macht man gerne. Auf der CD ist natürlich die selbe Version wie im Player, also auf zur Webseite. Naja, wenn das so einfach wäre, denn im ganzen Manual hat es keine einzige URL, nicht mal den Namen des Herstellers. Achso ja, ist ja ein Noname Player …
In verschiedenen Onlineshops findet man dann Herstellernamen wie “Musicman” und ähnliches. Das Tool zum Firmware aktualisieren sagt aber Wilson .co .ltd, und über Umwege erfährt man dann, dass es sich um das Modell S1 MP3 player handelt (sinniger Name nicht wahr?). Und irgendwann findet man dann sogar Seite wo es die Firmware zum Download gibt. Dort stellt man mit Freuden fest, dass man schon die neuste Firmware drauf hat und schätzt sich glücklich dass man den Download mit ~3kb/s nicht in Kauf nehmen muss. Das Ganze hat aber eindeutig zulange gedauert um es beim nächsten mal zu wiederholen, desshalb schreibt man sich die URL ins Blog, und kuckt in einem halben Jahr nochmals ob`s neue Firmware gibt.

Trotz allem hat man Freude am neuen Spielzeug, denn für ein paar Groschen kann man nun:
- Mp3s hören
- eine passwortgeschützte Partition mit heiklen Daten und einer portablen Version von Thunderbird und Firefox füllen
- Radio hören
- Ja sogar Radio aufnehmen
- Diktiergerätfunktionen nützen
- und sogar Telefonnummern speichern (was man aber Dank selten doofem Tool eh nie machen wird)
- Und jetzt wo man die URL gefunden hat, sogar die Firmware aktualisieren

512MB … war so ein Spontankauf. Habe nachher bemerkt dass es das Ding auch mit 1GB gibt, hätte sich eigentlich fast gelohnt. Das 1GB Teil hatten sie in dem Laden eh nicht. Hatte sogar Glück, mein 512MB Teil war das letzte im Lager, und Dank kurzer Ausstellungszeit gabs sogar noch 10% Rabatt.

Aber Vorsicht, es muss schon die passende Software zum richtigen MP3 Stick sein, ansonsten geht es in die Hose!

Über diese Seite bin ich auch gestolpert auf meiner Suche. Wollte aber nicht rumprobieren welcher da wohl der Passende ist. Auf jedenfall danke für den Link, gut für`s Archiv.

A Question,
I have the 1GB S1 MP3 Player with Telephone Book, built in FM Radio, Record function and 7 colour display. Current Firmware version – Wilson .Co .Ltd 3.0.42.
My MP3 Player stopped working after I formated the 1GB flash, it just flashes when plugged into USB and stays on. I tried the Firmware (2085) from the firmware site above which looks the same, but with no efect. I did notice, there was LINKMAN in my telephone book before my MP3 player went duff.

Hi! Ich hab mir auch diesen “sagenhaften” MP3 Stick geholt. Allerdings habe ich ein Problem damit. Ich habe genug Platz für ca. 200 Lieder. Da freute ich mich aber zu früh. Der Player zeigt mir nur 99 Gesamtlieder an und spielt auch nur die ersten 99. Kann mir jemand bei diesem Problem helfen?

versuch doch mal die 200 MP3s auf 3 Ordner aufzuteilen, ich glaube pro Ordner oder auch im Root dürfen maximal 99 MP3s liegen.

i get 2 firmware file from this site.

so i have upgraded my MP3 player to 3.0.25 .but unfortunately the update was not succesful .now when i connect my MP3 to the computer,the computer detect the usb device named USB 2(FS)ADFU device .but in the my computer i cant see my MP3 player and i cant upgrade it now to the other version.please help me to solve this problem.(i dont know germany language ,so please help me in english)

ich habe das gleiche problem wie parviz: seitdem ich den MP3 player upgraded hab’, funktioniert nun gar nichts mehr :-( der player bleibt dauernd angestellt, nur mehr batterie rausnehmen stellt ihn ab, der computer entdeckt den player meistens nicht und die menus auf dem player sind auch einfach weg ! yep, einfach weg ! da bleibt mir nur noch eins zu sagen : hilfe !
falls mir jemand dazu nen tipp geben kann … danke danke danke im voraus !!

Du hast 2Möglichkeiten:
entweder du holst dir nen neuen player,oder du versuchst von irgendwoher nochmal die original firmware zu bekommen.
Falls es sich aber um einen Wilson MP3 player handelt…gibs auf.
Hatte das gleiche Problem u bekomm nirgends mehr die original firmware her.
Oder weiß jemand was, was ich nicht weiß?
Bin für jeden Tip dankbar

Bin schön froh gibt alrakeha hier kompetenz antwort, ich hab nämlich keine Ahnung. Habe bei meinem das Firmware ja nicht neu draufgemacht, weil ich schon die aktuelle Version drauf hatt. Nach euren Problemschilderungen werde ich wohl dabei bleiben, und nie, nie, nie, nie, nie firmware updaten.

ich hab des gleiche problem wie Sis… Der player hat rumgespackt und da hab ich gedacht ich mach ma die alte firmaware (3.0.25) drauf… Jez sieht des Menü scheisse aus is auf Chinesisch und die Tasten sind anders belegt… http://www.wilson.co.ltd.xfou.com/#driver
Da gibt die firmware und die PC Treiber mit dem upload programm( eine alte version) die hab ich dan drauf gemacht und kann fast mit dem dinger verbinden nur fehlt der schwule USB2.0(fs) ADFU Treiber und ich find den neeeed =(((

i am sorry but i can not write german but i can read it!I have a problem too! my 256 MB MP3 players with the same softwear dosent do anything right! in the past year this is the third that the service has given me always a diferent model! this one is the worst! its the 256 MB s1 with wilson softwear !
my problem: When ever i conect him with somewhone elses copmputer it works normaly but it doesnt save the things which i put on him! it deletes them after i disconects ot it just corupts them so that they are unusable! he expecialy heates folders!
where could i find new softwear and please help?

Hi, folks
I have simila problem. It is like so: I wanted to upgrade firmware of S1 player (512MB, FM) by wilson software. To do it S1 should be putted into ADFU-Device mode. In this mode Software upgrade was completed succesfully. And after this problem occurs. China’s programme doesn’t want to put S1 back from ADFU mode to normal one. So S1 works good but only in ADFU mode.
When I tried to write another firmware my comp just hangs up and reboots.
So problem is to get device back from ADFU mode to commn or wfite new firmware (old one).
About firmware. Befor writing new firmware programme makes backup of old one. I can’t find backup of old firmware anywhere. May be china’s programmers wrote local (not absolute) path where to put backup and programme just wanted to put backup to CD (I started upgrading toold from CD).
Good news. I have one more S1 with working firmware. Now it’s possible to get frimware from good one and put it to damaged one. But I don’t know how to get firmware from good one.
I don’t want to put good S1 into ADFU mode (to get firmware) because I didn’t see any button to put it back from ADFU mode to normal one.
Any suggestions? Please english, or german with a lot of english terms :-)

Ich hab auch so ein Teil bei ebay gekauft.
An sich nicht schlecht. Hab nur ein Problem mit den Ordnern…
Irgendwann bin ich an die 99 Files Hürde gestossen. Hab also neue Ordner angelegt und die Files auf diese verteilt.
Es werden nun aber die neuen Ordner vom Player nicht erkannt. Hat da einer eine Idee, was das sein kann?
Ursprünglich waren drei Odner mit ein paar Alben drauf. Die werden immer noch angezeigt. Die neuen nicht.

So, habs hinbekommen. Auch wenn ich immer noch nicht blicke, was da faul war.
Alles unter Windoof auf die Festplatte gezogen und anschliessend mit der mitgelieferten Software den Speicher neu formatiert.
Anschliessend die Ordner von Festplatte wieder aufgespielt und schon wieder alles gut.
@soad_toxic: try to connect with another cable and on another port. my device also seems to have problems with the one USB hub and likes the other one more.

First of all, for MP3 player wilson co. ltd, here there is the FAQ page of the factory:

My suggestion is to not upgrade firmware if this is not necessary for some specific reasons. Second important thing is that when the MP3 player is formatted, you must chosse FAT and not FAT32! This may cause malfuncion, as explained in the FAQ page…

Verdammt… So ein scheiss gerät !
Da will jetzt gar nix mehr funktionieren… Ich glaub ich habs übel geschrottet… Ich kanns nicht mehr formatieren weils angeblich schreibgeschützt ist (mit oder ohne HOLD)... Wenn ich die Kapazität anschaue hab ich bei dem S1 256 ganze 120 MB Speicher… Ich kanns nicht starten wenn ich auf Play drück und momentan komm ich nicht mal mehr in das Update-Programm rein…
Mein Rat an alle S1 Besitzer… Schmeisst es gegen eine Wand und kauft euch was teures von ner bekannten Marke und nich au China !
PS:Wer das gleiche Problem hatte und weiß wies zu beheben is, bitte bitte hilf mir… Ich hab keine Kohle für ein Neues teureres…

The firmware (Wilson co.Ltd version 3.0.42) can be downloaded
at the following address and the file is (U22 firmware.zip) which include two files:one with FM radio, and one without FM radio,related to models (ET-U22 Series) in the download section.

I’ve have downloaded the file, and loaded it with the firmware upgrade utility ( RDiskUpdate) and the program gave me the info about the version (Wilson co.Ltd version 3.0.42) the same installed
in my MP3 player (1Gb,7 colours lcd,FM, voice rec,ID3).

Hallo hab ein Problem mit dem Radio von dem MP3 Player. Am Anfang ging es ohne Probleme. Dann kam öfters mal die Meldung “schwerer Fehler” und wie ich die Batterie raus gemacht habe, war das Symbol verschwunden. Jetzt kann ich kein Radio mehr hören. Habt Ihr dafür eine Lösung. Ich habe ca. 54 MP3s drauf und der Speicher ist erst zu ca. 50 % voll. Dann habe ich 2 Telefonnr. gepeichert. Ging einwandfrei. Bei interesse, wie das geht, email an mich (davidschuler@freenet.de). Dann würde ich mal Vorschlagen, dass bei aufladen des Treiber die blöde Datei nicht findet es mal über Windows 98 zu versuchen. Bei mir gings dann auch bei Win XP. Dann habe ich die Erkenntnis gemacht, dass der Player eine andere Version anzeigt wie bei der Software MP3 Player firmewre upgraded tool. MP3 Player hat die Version 4284_V2.1 und das Programm zeigt die bekannte Version 3.042 an. Verstehe ich nicht. Kann mir einer helfen. Vielen Dank! Bitte hilft mir bei der Radiofuktion ist mehr sehr wichtig, dass ich wieder Radio hören kann.

Hallo,
habe eine interessante Seite gefunden. Bei der Seite werden alle Uprades vom S1 MP3 Player zur Verfügung gestellt.

Nur das Problem ist es die richtige Version zu finden die auf dem MP3 Player funktioniert. Vorrausetztung ist, dass der MP3 Player noch vom MP3 Player Upgrade Tool Programm erkannt wird. Es ist Vorsicht geboten, weil wenn ihr die falsche Version aufspielt wird der Player nicht vom MP3 Player Upgrade Tool Programm erkannt.
Ich wünsche euch viel Spass auf der Seite und viel Glück.
Wenn Ihr die richtige Software die funktioniert herausgefunden habt, schreibt mir eine Nachricht an davidschuler@freenet.de

And i have same problem as Yudhi, but one thing is different: i didnt evrithing, i didnt any flashing, i just did start to lissening radio and than it just shuts down and after that i also have a stick what shows me only different colour display! Now i watch that my player also have firmvare version 3.0.42. So maybe that version is bad at all? If anybody knows some good way do fix that problem, i was greatful

Hi ich habe auch so einen scheiß s1 MP3 player ich habe auch irgendwie den gleichen firmware wo ich auf meinem MP3 player drauf habe drauf gemacht aber seitdem geht überhaupt nichts mehr wenn ich auf play taste drücke zum einschalten dann steht starting drauf und geht aus durch usb kabel an computer funktioniert es auch nicht steht wieder starting kommt das blaue display licht und geht wieder aus bitte hilft mir was kann ich machen bitte um hilfe

Hallo Leute,
verfolge mit großem Interesse die Pleite mit dem S1 MP3 Player aus HongKong ( von Winston.Ltd ) und möchte auch noch meinen Kommentar dazu abgeben. Da Ding funktioniert zwar noch, habe aber nicht viel Freude damit. Sitze schon seit mehrer Tage an der Konvertierung, Defragmentierung, Formatierung und Firmupdate. Alles neu gemacht, alles hin und her geschaufelt mit der dazu gelieferten Software. MP3`s mit 128Kbit/s gesampelt, WMA auf 64Kbit/s, alles ohne Erfolg. Er spielt einige Titel ab und springt sporadisch mitten im Lied weiter zu einem ganz anderen Titel oder schaltet sich ab und fängt dann wieder von vorn oder bei einem anderen Titel an. Vielleicht hat einer von Euch noch eine Idee was man da noch machen kann????????????????

after I used the Sp version 1.25 the computer is detecting it very well and I updated to kinwei-3.0.42.0002.nofm.bin but after that it says that it the device is not formatted and when i tried to format the Device it says that it is write Protected ! any know the solution for this error

First and for all I DONT KNOW GERMAN.
But I will share my views.
Bought 512mb player Sony NS 11 with FM and upgraded it like a fool like the rest of us here.
Then I researched the web. Had some luck in my twenty four research so far.
My upgrade showed successfull on the PC. But the device would not boot up.
Later I noticed that device was not dead and the power was on as the LCD pixels was black. So I kept my hopes up.
When i connect the device, it recongnised as a USB 2.0 ADFU device, I downloaded from the site
http://insidecomputer.com/support/mp3/
Now I downloaded the XC_SN320FC.bin V43-SN320.fw and mp3tool1.zip
After installing the tool, I copied the V43-SN320.fw to the C:Program FilesMP3 Player Utilities V1.28RDiskUpdaterecover directory and renamed the file to $ACTSDK$.FW
Then I ran the update tool, it took up this firmware for recovery. Earlier attempts with the default file would yield “Unknown flash type”. Now it moved further. After crashing my Win2k twice, it succeeded in upgrading the firmware
Yes I saw two angels on the LCD display.. and I am not kidding.
Once the fw upgraded, the system recongnised it as a removable disk !! But the volume was unformatted. So I used the disk tool and formatted it as NTFS. BIG MISTAKE, I learn now. I should have formatted as FAT!!
Still did not realise the mistake then.. All was well till then..
Now I decided to upgrade the binary from the same site.. So I ran the upgrade tool again and loaded the XC_SN320FC.bin file. It did upgrade successfully
!
BUT BUT.. My unit does not power on now since then. My pc stopped recongnising it as ADFU device also… Totally screwed up and waiting for hope…

I seriously recommend to you to upgrade the firmware as I did and format the disk to FAT system. At least u will have ur drive working.

Hi,
I just purchased a USB MP3 player. It has the firmware as S1 MP3 Player. When I was copying MP3 files to the player from my computer, the copying suddenly stopped saying disk full, although the player showed 30 MB free. I then removed the player and restarted it, after which when I try to enter the option to play MP3 in the player, it displays ‘Disk Error’. Please tell me what to do.

Na ja das is noch ned alles mein comp. nimmt ihn auch nich mehr wahr und wen dan sagt er NEUE Software gefunden das Ding hab ich schon länger als 3 Monate.

ich hab auch bei Ebay einen Player gekauft und ausversehen das Firmware runtergehaun. F*** sag ich dazu nur, naja jetz such ich halt ne neue firmware dafür, vor allem auch weil der verkäufer des teiles sagte, nachdem ich es ihm geschickt hatte man müsste nur nen Firmwareupdate machen. Super
Sowas hilfsbereites. Mein Computer erkennt ihn zwar aber nich im Arbeitsplatz. Er sagt USB 2.0(FS) ADFU Device dazu. Kann mir irgendjemand helfen????

Recently i have the same problem as you do. But then finally, i have my NS-11 back to normal again. Here’s my step, hopefully can add your information
1. I try to upgrade my NS-11 with newer firmware (fool me….:D). In the CD that came along with the NS-11 there file name F331.FW. So using MP3 Player Update Tool i try to upgrade my NS-11
2. The Upgrade is successfull and the device is turn off, but then, when i try to turn it on, it won’t turn on. At this time, i try not to be panic, and try to recover my Firmware. But, i could’nt found the backup firmware. When i try to use F331.FW again, the MP3 Player Update Tool display message of “unknown flas type”
3. I try to googling and found some good sites : http://insidecomputer.com/support/mp3/ —> then i download V43-SN320.fw files
6. In another site : http://s1mp3.secret.com.br/downloads.htm#dl_41—i Download Sony_ns11.bin for HB5-09FC MAIN V05 (well my board is 2005HB-FM60409). Actually i’m not sure if i’m downloading the right file
7. I try to update using Sony_ns11.bin, it works and my device is recognized by windows. But still won’t turn on
8. I try to update using V43-SN320.fw. Voilla….it works fine. Thank God….

ich hatte auch ein upgrade versucht und das falsche 3.0.25 eingespielt was den player total aus der bahn warf.
mit dem tool konnte ich nach obiger anleitung das entsprechende bin einspielen, was zunächst nichts half. ein vom hersteller übermitteltes (aber auch fehlerhaftes) bin file hauchte im dann im recover modus wieder leben ein.

Hi, My MP3 Player is a non brand. Its manufacturer is Wilson Co. Ltd. Its Firmware version is 3.2.08 and it is a S1 MP3 Player. I upgraded it to 3.2.16 but now its display and everything is gone. Even it is not respondng to my PC. Can anyone with the firmware version 3.2.08 help me out to solve this problem…?

You should format your player with a version lower than the S1 BIN version. If not your player can’t start working due to the different between this two.
But my problem is that, when I upgrade my player its capacity reduces very much & I can’t recover it. Please help me to solve this problem.

Amendment to JunkCodes post:
the site (in English) seems to load faster; with the tool s1fwx, you can easily create a dump from your MP3 player’s firmware.
You can then modify it (e. g. include a different startup screen) but, most importantly, by combining files from your dump.bin with the 3.0.42.bin or 3.0.25.bin – as provided at wilson.co.ltd.(...) – you can create a working firmware file (.bin) for the s1 MP3 player which you can use with the MP3 Update Tool (comes with your MP3 player; can also be downloaded from s1mp3.de)!
BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING - READ AND THOROUGHLY UNDERSTAND THE S1FWX HOW-TOs ! I crashed my player twice but managed to recover it. Normally, the .bin firmware I created using s1fwx (3.0.42 with modified welcome and goodbye screens) should work with your MP3 player, so you might contact me if you like (netzmeister{at}hiddi.com) ... I can’t give any guarantees though.
note: the firmware file 3.0.42.bin from wilson.co.ltd seems to be an older version (the update tool detects version 3.0.25) – both files offered there didn’t work for me.

Hello Pitt,
I am not sure if I can help you because I do not know your type of MP3
player … whether it’s a s1mp3 (compatible) player or not, to be
precise.
I have created a small download page for the firmware files that work
for me:

Do you have some software that is called MP3 Update Tool? If so, it
should show your type on the left hand side if your player is
connected to your pc. If not, here is the software I’m speaking of:

(It’s exactly the software I used to flash my player).
If you have an s1mp3 player, you might want to try this firmware, it
worked (and still works) well for me:

This is the 3.0.42 firmware, with no changes made whatsoever; however,
I have another one with different startup/shutdown screens (replacing
the childish toy horsey..):

However, if you don’t have an s1mp3 player or are uncertain about it,
I can’t tell you what to do; considering the fact that your player is
completely disfunctional already, you might as well try the firmware
above. Using the firmware mentioned, I managed to get my
player back to life (can’t guarantee anything to you, though).
Also, in my player’s manual (an all time classic in chinese
translation mastery, BTW), it says the player must be formatted with
the FAT file system (NOT FAT32); you might want to try this once your
player is working again (if so..).
That’s all for the moment. Hope it helps in some way. I am currently
collecting any piece of information about the s1mp3 (and compatible)
player, so please let me know how it went out.

auch ich habe es geschafft innerhalb von einer Woche meinen player funktionsunfähig zu machen (allerdings ohne genau zu wissen womit eigentlich) – aber die gute Nachricht ist: ICH HABE IHN WIEDERBELEBT
!
Dank der Hinweise auf dieser Seite. Bei mir ging alles quer, er zeigte mir ständig einen völlen Speicher an ohne Dateien drauf zu haben, stellte permanent die Grundeinstellungen um und zeigte mir nur noch “defect folder” wenn ich Musik abspielen wollte.
Hab zwei Theorien wodurch ich das ausgelöst habe: 1. habe ich den Stick einmal ungesichert rausgenommen und 2. habe ich versucht mit dem media player daten aufzuspielen. ob der crash aber wirklich dadurch verursacht wurde, weiß ich nicht. Wie auch immer, danach habe ich formatiert und dann ging gar nix mehr. Mein Schlüssel zum Erfolg war nun, dass ich nicht unter Fat32 sondern Fat neuformatiert habe. Seit dem läuft alles wieder wunderbar und wie es muss. Und dank der webseite www.s1mp3.org/ kann ich nun auch folder anlegen. Diese webseite ist absolut zu empfehlen, sie hilft bei allen möglichen Problemen mit diesem Mistgerät! (Und liefert abgesehen davon auch eine detaillierte und verständliche Gebrauchsanleitung, denn dieser wilson-scheiß ist ja wohl das allerletzte. Allein die Tatsache, dass ich ne Stunde nach dem Firmennamen suchen musste, ist ja wohl ein Skandal).

1st. i’m pretty sure it is s1mp3 (it is written on cover – sony ns-11 – 2gb – fm)
2nd. i think, but i’m not sure it is atj2051
3rd. original firmware was wilson co ltd for s1mp3, but unfortunetlly i don’t remember the version
i have MP3 update tool v.1.39, cause any newer does not work with my s1mp3 (shows, that device is loced or unknown flash type) even after circuting like it is shown on http://simp3.org/
i found on simp3.org firmware for sony ns-11 (3.0.41) and for now it is only one firmware on which my s1mp3 works (only as an pen-drive) but works
I mean that nothing is shown on display, it doesn’t play, button’s dont work, but i can transfer my data from one pc to another on 119 MB pendrive
when i upgrade firmware to any other my s1mp3 stops even working as a pendrive and i have to cicut
when i upgraded firmware that you suggested me s1mp3 said that upgrade was succed but i was still in firmware recovery mode adn i had to recover 3.0.41 version

HI Leute zu allererst ist mal zu sagen dass die s1 player mit wilson firmware beschissen sind. an alle die noch nicht upgraden wollten: LASST ES EINFACH ES GEHT SOWIESO NICHT
Mein Problem war, dass mein S1 player nach nem Upgrade sich weder einschalten ließ, noch wurde er vom pc nicht mehr erkannt. heißt: ich konnte ihn nicht mal mehr mit anderer firmware flashen. was hab ich gemacht: erstmal aufgeschraubt und die richtige id-nummer nachgeguckt, dann (am pc angeschlossen) vom memory-IC durch probieren mehrere pins verbunden, ibs windows ein gerät erkennt (man braucht viel geduld aber es funktioniert auf jeden fall). der player wird dann als ADFU device erkannt. dann muss man nur noch die passenden treiber installieren und ne funktionierende firmware flashen und schwups…. wie neu. Die Anleitung dazu findet ihr auch im Forum von _ unter “recover dead devices” (zwar in englisch aber gut und exakt erklärt und leicht verständlich). ps: die pins zu verbinden ist nicht wirklich einfach aber wenn euer player eh nicht funktioniert könnt ihrs ruhig mal ausprobieren. Hallo,
ich nehme meine positive Meldung von oben zurück. Mein player verliert nun bei jedem dritten oder vierten Mal (vor allem beim Wechsel von PC auf laptop) seine kompletten daten und kann dann nur wieder neu formatiert werden. Es ist zum Kotzen. Ich brauche das Teil eigentlich auch als verlässlichen Datenspeicher, das kann ich nun vergessegen, weil ich nie weiß, wann er funzt und wann er es vorzieht lieber alle Daten zu vernichten. Falls jemand eine Idee hat, woran dies nun wieder liegen kann, wäre ich über Hilfe sehr dankbar.

Hallo, das problem ist einfach, dass diese noname player nur so funktionieren, wie sie vom Werk aus sind. sämtliche upgrades und dann rettungsversuche sind in dem meisten fällen gescheitert. ich kennen keinen und weiß auch nicht, dass es mal irgendjemand geschafft hat, seinen player normal mit dem update tool korrekt auf ne höhere version zu flashen. und außer mir und nem kumpel kenn ich auch keinen, ders geschafft hat, seinen abgekackten player zu retten. ich kann nur jedem raten, die finger von upgrades zu lassen. I got a new MP3 player ( for this Xmas) from some Hongkong company. Now it is not working.
When I use @MP3 Player Utility- update tool to update firmware ( I have tried with 3.0.25 and 3.0.42), it say “No flash”. I don’t know what it mean.
Further I brought another MP3 player and found the firmware as 3.5.35, S1 MP3 Wilson co ltd.

Hab das gleiche Problem. Ich hab die Firmware geupgradet und dann ging nichts mehr, weder abspielen noch anschalten. Das Programm will auch die Firmware “recovern”. Wenn mir jemand helfen kann, dann sendet BITTE eine E-Mail an tobiw2@gmx.de

Hallo zusammen,
und noch was zum elendigen Thema Wilson S1Mp3 Player:
bis zu einem gewissen Zeitpunkt funktionierte der Player einwandfrei, dann aber…
zeigt er nur noch einen grünen Screen an, wenn ich ihn an USB anschliesse oder ne Batterie reintue.
Er reagiert nicht auf Knöpfe drücken oder sonstiges.
Ich habe es zwar geschafft, das er im Geräte Manager als USB 2.0 (FS) ADFU Device erkannt wird, jedoch nicht im Geräte Manager gezeigt wird, ergo ich kann nicht auf das Ding zugreifen und ich kann es nicht formatieren etc.
Seltsamerweise kann ich aber mit einem Updatetool die Firmware des Sticksflashen.
Ein langes gruseliges Thema. Ich bin über jeden Lösungsansatz dankbar.

Ich hab meinen in der Zwischenzeit ganz geschrottet, mehr als n “Loading…” gibt er nicht mehr her. Hab mir schon einen neuen besorgt, und zwar den Samsung YB U1, hat zwar ein paar Features weniger aber reicht mir völlig aus. Dafür ist er – oh wunder – noch nie abgestürtzt. :)

Hi,I have bought MP3 player. On a disk with player is program for updating player.
After updating on the screen nothing shows and joins player. “Digital MP3 player dvr”.
Chipset is “ATJ2051” .Capacity 256mb.Mp3 player is seven colors, without FM function.
I do not know precisely its name and model. On it it is written Sony but it only for appearance.

Hi,
I am a programmer for firmware and programs like this.
Some informations to the S1 MP3-Player from Wilson CO. Ltd. I got this Player too and the player works well.
It is a MP3-Player from a small Company in Shenzen in China and not from Wilson. The player have from Samsung the Semiconductor (Flash Memory) in it. You can see here the technical informations about this Chip. samsung.com/Products/...
1) You should never install an driver for an MP3-Player if you use Windows XP. If you have an driver installed then uninstall this driver. This is for all external data devices, including external harddiscs the same. If you get for a external harddisc not much speed then you have to install the usb-2.0 driver for windows cp. You can get this driver usually from the Chipset-Company from your Mainboard.
Ok, back to the MP3-Player. If the Player does not get dedected then it is usually a contact problem of the USB-Connection itself. You can put the Player in the Slot and start the player if the player does not get automaticly dedected. The electricity that you send now to the Computer let detect Windows XP the player FOR SURE. The problem is that the Player if not with Power On gives sometimes not enough electricity away that Windows can detect a new Connection to an USB-Port. This problem comes speccially if you use an USB-Hub and not a direct connection. If you use the USB-Hub on the Front of your PC then is it still not sure that it is a Direct-USB because the cable lose of course electricity.
2) The best Firmware Version was the Version 3.0.41
There is on the Wilson Page a Upgrade for the Versoin 3.0.42
This Version works but changed to simplified Chinese Language if you install it. It is not very difficult to change back. All what you need is to press the Left-Right-Switchbutton for 5 seconds and then go to the last menu-item, this have 2 little squares on the top and 2 on the bottom and betwen this on the left side 1 square button. Then you are in the system settings, there you see DE or US for german or English. It works well.
3) The Firmware accept only 99 Files per Folder (Other Programs accept up to 999) but fortunatly it accept more Folders and each Folder can have 99 Files. The Folders get in this (not very good Program) automaticly changed. That is for here very usefull but not if you want to hide an folder or use some Songs only to special meetings.
4) Be carefully to cover always the USB-Connector. Unfortunatly is the Samsung Smeiconductor 44x very sensitive for static electronic. As you can read in the Technical paper it is really only a little static needed to kill this Chip.

Hi,
I bought MP3 player 256 MB “zienger model : tm110f ” one day it just turned of and don’t turn on . when i open “MP3 player update tool”
it turns into recover mode and it’s asking for a recover file but I dont have it.

First my MP3 player stopped to show 2gb of memory and started 119mb after formatting. My MP3 player is Sony, model: NS-11 and is AMP2051 and 2005/08/28. The sticky label on the battery tray shows this 2006HB-D053501. Do you have any firmware to fix it? If you can help me please write to yosuancg@hotmail.com.

I also have one of these Wilson S1 MP3/Mp4 players. It has firmware version 3.5.35 already on it. It seems like a cheap unit but its working for now…
Except Video! I have tried putting MPEG, AVI, 3GP & using the converter that came with it to put MTV movie files on it. When I go to Movie it pauses for a moment, then says “No Files!” Does anyone know what I’m doing wrong? Email me at HeroBoy21@GMail.com ! Thanks :)

i am also screwed by that wilson firmware. i bought a MP3 pen drive of 512 MB but when i formatted it in winxp, both in fat and fat32 , i get 244 MB. Whats the solution. pls help mail me at chetankolte@gmail.com.

Hi Chetan,
I encountered the same problem when i formatted my MP3 Player. u have quick format the plzyer which will show u full memory to use. Also format the player in FAT and not FAT 32.
I am facing a new problem. My MP3 player is not playing MP3 files more than 52. I can not understand this. Will firware upgradation help. If yes which version of the firware is to be installed. Will firmware upgradation damage the MP3 player in any way.

Nilesh , thanks for the advice but it did not worked.i tried every tool i can think of. computer administrative tools of XP, formating in various ways, Norton utilities, other tools from net. I even flashed the drive , make it dead, fought 3 days battel to make it it alive and working, but still the space is 242MB instead of 512MB . I triwed with MP3Player Tools, but it did’nt worked(it was shipped with the drive as an assisting software). In other forums , i read that HP usb tool does some help, after a long searh i found it. but it is a such a nasty tool…. it corrupted my another flash drive of 4GB to 127 MB. Damn them.so till their is another fail proof solution i suggesrt others not to play with firmware and formatting tools and avoid burning ther hands.Those with a corrupted flash drives flash firmware, i suggest looking at www.s1mp3.org . their you can find various firmwares and informative links.. i downloaded the same version of various manufactures, copied them over one another, tried permutation and combination of files and finally succeded in getting my drive working. so PLS DO NOT FLASH UNTIL UR PLAYER IS DEAD. NEVER TRY FOR FUN. TRY OTHER METHODS TO GET THE SPACE BACK. Do tell me and others if any one gets a method to get the space back.

I had a same problem like you.
When I try to upgrage firmware. After I upload new
firmware player is dead. Screen goes black. Noting.
I try to repair it by download new firmware ver. 3.0.42
From internet.
But computer not detect my Player. Can’t recovery back.
I think I will not Update firmware for fun.Not any more. Because I don’t know what is it. I can’t find the original firmware. My oringinal firmware is Wilson ver.3.0.39
I’m go to Wilson website but the link is not work and not provide any help.

also ich habe auch einen s1 mp4 player wilson co. ltd. ich habe aber bis jetzt kein firmwareupdate gemacht ich schätz ma is auch besser so :-) Aber immer wenn ich das FM Radio anmache findet er keine sender egal wo ich auch bin, ich glaube das ist so weil ich nur sender aus amerika oder japan empfangen kann weil im menü steht japan mode, US mode. Aber vielleicht funzt das auch in deutschland.
Kann mir da bitte jemand helfen.
